FRANCE | Musical of Marian apparitions in Lourdes travels to the Eternal City

The musical will show at the Auditorium Conciliazione next to the Vatican from January 16 to February 16, 2025.

Pilgrims traveling to Rome for the Jubilee year have the opportunity to attend a musical about Bernadette of Lourdes: the 13-year-old girl who experienced one of the most well-known Marian apparitions.

Bernadette’s story is actually very similar to what everyday teenage girls experience, not because of what she was, but simply because of the character she had and the attitude she had in dealing with the situation. Her main characteristics are tenacity and courage and these are two characteristics that many teenagers have in their everyday life and work on everyday.
Most of all, I thought it was difficult to step into her shoes, but after getting to know her, I realized she acted like a simple girl and that I just had to be myself.

The idea for this musical was born after the producer visited Lourdes.

We were in front of the grotto and that night realized, “Oh my God, we have to tell the story of this place because it is amazing.” Because millions of people from all around the world are coming to Lourdes, which is a small town in the south of France, with hope. It’s one of the most famous French cities in the world and we have to explain why. And it’s because of that little girl, Bernardette, who was 13 years old. And all because of her, millions of people come every year with hope to get better.

The musical will show at an auditorium next to the Vatican. It is currently scheduled to be in theaters for a month from January 16 to February 16, 2025 but the dates may be extended.

Quizás pensar que cualquiera, incluso siendo pobre, estando enfermos, sin saber leer, ni escribir, cualquiera puede ser el elegido por la Virgen, y ese el mensaje que queremos difundir por todo el mundo.

La historia de Bernadette es en realidad una historia muy parecida a la que viven las adolescentes diariamente, no por lo que le sucedió, sino simplemente por lo que ella fue, por el carácter que tuvo y la actitud con la que afrontó la situación. Sus principales características son la tenacidad y el coraje, y éstas son dos características que los adolescentes actuales trabajan en su día a día.
Pensé que sería difícil entrar en el personaje, meterme en su pellejo, pero luego, al conocer más de su historia me di cuenta que actuaba como una simple chica y entendí que debía ser yo misma.

Este proyecto nació después de que la productora visitara Lourdes.

Estábamos frente a la gruta y esa noche fue como “Dios mío, tenemos que contar la historia de este lugar porque es increíble, porque millones de personas de todo el mundo vienen a Lourdes, que es una pequeña ciudad del sur de Francia, con esperanza y es una de las ciudades francesas más famosas del mundo y tenemos que contar por qué. Y es por esa niña, Bernardette, que tenía 13 años. Gracias a ella, millones de personas acuden cada año con la esperanza de recuperarse.

El espectáculo será en el Auditorio Via della Conciliazione, al lado del Vaticano en 2025. Del 16 de enero al 16 de febrero, aunque estas fechas podrían ampliarse.
