Lourdes: Summer Evening (Un Soir d’été)

Each July 16th is a double opportunity to Lourdes with joy : the Virgin Mary is honored on this day when the Catholic Church celebrated under the name of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and is also celebrated here specifically because on 16 July 1858 she appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in the eighteenth and last time. The torchlight procession this evening of July 16 each year is enhanced by the presence of scouts and guides, many of Lourdes in the heart of summer.
